POETRY A MONOLOGUE

UNKNOWN DESTINY

You shall continue to bend
Until you reach your end
When everyone fend
And discover daily what you spend
And you shall continue to lend
Your address you shall amend
When you don't comprehend
Your destiny

IS SHE REALLY GONE

On the dark day of Ndey's mourning
My head turned upside down
Like the somersaulted truck
My soul turned inside out
Like the busted tire
Is she really gone, I asked
For she was such a caring mother
Open hearted and deeply religious
For she was such a beautiful lady
More beautiful than even beauty
For she was such a strong woman
24/7 she was at the market
For everybody was her problem
While she was no one's problem

For Ndey understood everyone
While no one understood her
For poor mother she was
But her days are boldly written
For Essau is her museum
Which shall always polish our memories
For even the sheep wept
On her dark mourning morning
For her children shall soon reap
From her fruity garden of diamond
For Ndey has gone forever
But still she remains forever
For she has not stayed long
But still stays some more Ndye

Alagie and Sheikh my nephews
Ndey and Ramou my nieces
For Ndey Joof I shall call you all
From her feet it's yours
Fit your feet in her golden shoes
When shall your toubab come
Your mum often asked me
For that reminds me to use my Biro
In memory of my late sister
Like her name Ndey indeed
Everybody's mother she truly was
Poorly living and fairly ignored
For because she was dumb and deft
But not dull at all

God returns his saints early
Much is unveiled when they stay
Take care of your saints everyday

For you never know what they convey
Until they are gone in May
For my face is floating with tears

While I send my sympathy to Njoofen
Like I did to Ngayen
May her soul rest in perfect peace, amen

EPITAPH

NDEY JOOF-33 IN 2001
A BEAUTIFUL AND BRIGHT LADY
CARING AND CONCERNED
DUMB AND DEFT
AND POOR BUT PURE
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE

BLINDNESS

Flying to nowhere
Like the big and tight balloon
Its destiny lost

BRAGING

As nice as flowers
insects take all they want
The remnants cry

THE CIRCLE

Insects live on trees
For the tree eats from the soil
the soil recycles

DENTON BRIDGE

The land of no problem
Pervert the stuttering bullets
By their precocious sentries

Along the Denton Cross
Leading to the capital
I the cub swear by
The moon and the stars in the sky
I can quake the soil
If not for the lioness and the smaller cubs
"BRO, FANLA BANJUL YORU"
Grabbed me at the wagon's far left
We marched and halted for years
As i visited death and alive
But we still stood still
Having open my eyes
It fell on a bending pole of wagons
Crawling like a wounded python
"AWANSEL GAINAIKO" was the next roar
As the sentry brightened the front seat
With his three dalasis flourescence
Having Attempted to bark
An insurgent I was lebelled
Who should fish for power and knowledge
Anyway, a she-goat on labor
Suddently freezed
Upon reaching RVTH
What a
misfortune shame

JOYFUL REGRET

What a joyful regret
I haved caused my soul
Because of wealth,
wealth and nothing but wealth

All my dreams blocked in the air
"You jeleous and envious cont"
My favorite sound                                                                                      I' m now filled with STI's
The gloomy lion inclusive

My engine chopped by poverty                                                                An outcast I am crowned
Because of my twins
Whose dad I know not

My beauty, my wealth
My strength and my integrity
All melted away like a candle
Left in the freezing sun
For they are once upon a time
I am told so

MY POTENTIALS

I have become a name
Like a lion in the zoo
Which calms all animals
Whenever it roars

I have become a name
Making millions in a moment
with my mouth and Biro
And getting all my desires

I have become a name
Via my potentials
All fingers fight to point me
"If i were you"

The chameleons constantly mutter
While their talents melt away
Like ice cream
In the dark cold sun

Rampinfly, some call me
A wag, others whisper
Well, which is which
A dozen dollar question

HAAIKUS

Know where you going
Before taking any step
You will never stock

The sharp shining moon
In the city's golden heart
Wake the lazy dogs

Touch not a green cub
Not even behind her mum
It doubles your days

Just like the river
Gives and takes from the shore
So are we good friends

Tiger at its home
Is left alone at its peace?
Fear quakes the others

A tree that  tigers
In forest lean on everyday
Feared by the others

A tiger's rough home
Is never crossed by any
Tom, Dick and Harry

The baby tiger
Under its mother's sharp arms
Is always very safe

The tree that tigers
Lean on daily shortly dies
Like the wounded snake

The stinky waters
In the man's shaky bedroom
Kills him suddenly

TOTAL DEPENDENCY

Yes, I have written again

Because the paper is my bank

For I do not understand

Whether you think it is magic

Or our tires are motioned by water

How long will you continue

To squeeze my weak intestines

Without sympathy and appreciation

You stay straight and cool

Relaxed like a king for centuries

At midst of a minutes honey moon

Funny enough you command me

To divorce my new queen

For the world is a reciprocal cycle

Where you must give a penny

If you would want to take a penny

I must accomplish my task on you though

Just do not condition me on what I own

Look not only at the black side

Of my multi-colored being

You can at least try to see grey

If you believe I deserve no white

TITLE- WHY ME-

CHARACTER: Lamin                                            AGE: 22 Years

SETTING: Daytime at a fairly built house with a very short and cold veranda. Lamin is seen reading a newspaper while every other person was in the living room. Even the way he reads shows that he is not comfortable. As their noice disturb him, he puts down the paper and stands up to walk around.

LAMIN: No, no, no. Is this a punishment? I mean what did I do to God to deserve this? Is this how I have to continue for the rest of my life? If so, then my life is no longer worth living.

Anyway, it is not my fault because all that I did was for the interest of the family and I have been talking to all of them to get something doing but they could not listen just because I was satisfying their needs.

Yes, it is the truth. I cannot hide it. My family members were the very ones who pushed me to steal and take bribes from my office.
What is the end result? Now, here I am,
SACKED.
I MUST GO IN AND TELL THEM.

(He leaves)
THE END.
